Member Service Representative – Part-Time
Potential for Full-Time Position in the New Year

Talka Credit Union is looking for a reliable, professional, and member-focused Member Service Representative (MSR) to join our team on a part-time basis, with the potential for a full-time opportunity in the new year.

This position is ideal for someone who is looking for part-time hours in the short term but is interested and available to transition into a full-time role in the future. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and providing excellent service to our members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to members in person and over the phone.

  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist members with their questions and requests.

  • Process daily financial transactions, including:

    • Cash deposits and withdrawals

    • Bill payments

    • Cheque deposits and clearing

    • EFT transactions and clearing

    • Other routine member account transactions

  • Accurately balance your cash and daily transactions at the end of each day.

  • Scan and process cheques and other required documentation.

  • Scan and organize daily work and documentation according to established procedures.

  • Operate office equipment, including printers, scanners, and other technology required for daily duties.

  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while handling confidential financial information.

  • Follow all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with other branch duties and member requests as required.

  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining a high level of member service.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience working at a financial institution is required.

  • Must be interested in the possibility of transitioning to full-time hours in the new year.

  • Knowledge of registered plans, including TFSA, RRSP, and RESP, is an asset.

  • Previous experience in a member/customer service or cash-handling role is an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Comfortable handling cash and completing financial transactions.

  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment.

  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable using computers, printers, scanners, and other office technology.

  • Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures.

  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.

  • Strong commitment to providing excellent member service.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a busy financial services environment. The successful candidate will be someone who can confidently handle day-to-day transactions while providing a positive experience for every member.

This is a part-time opportunity initially, with the potential for full-time hours in the new year. Candidates should be comfortable with the initial part-time schedule and have the availability and interest to take on a full-time commitment when the opportunity becomes available.
